Today I cycled from downtown Chicago to within a mile of the Wisconsin border. One last stay in Illinois, unless the forecast inch of rain tomorrow leads to a rest day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have now bicycled all three directions in Chicago. In from the west and out from both north and south. As large cities go, I’ve found it good for cycling with relatively flat terrain, a network of roads and some bike lanes\/bike paths as well. Today the first eight miles were city streets and after that a majority of paths but also city streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skokie had a lot of different sculptures near their path. Rather than just go straight they somehow weaved back and forth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not difficult to get past this tree work <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the last 20 miles a majority of the path was gravel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Waukegan had these obnoxious crossings multiple times in a mile at every cross street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lunch spot. It was tasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without much difficulty, I found my way to a motel just south of the border. Today was flat and not difficult riding. Also as an update, Amtrak left a message that they apologized for the delay yesterday and would follow with a travel voucher. Nice gesture, particularly as our train seemed to have many people making connections to other trains.<\/p>\n\n\n
