Today was a nice change from my riding of the past few days. The previous days were a lot of highway riding with both climbing and descending sections. The first part of today was almost entirely on trails and had occasional short ups and downs but no real big hills. Along the way, I stopped past the 23rd state capitol for the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I started with a few city streets but within a mile or two I was on the Lehi Trail. This would end at the Murdoc Canal Trail which I followed to the Jordan River Trail (JRT). I took the JRT across much of the southern suburbs of Salt Lake City. With all the turns and stops, I don’t go as fast as on the road, but I also don’t watch my mirror as much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Welcome to the Jordan River Trail. Despite the name, the first parts of the trail strayed from the river with occasional short steep climbs. There seems to be a high ridge between Utah Lake and the basin with Salt Lake City and we found a few of those spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bluffdale has an upcoming 10K run and they seem to advertise with these dolls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last bits were through Salt Lake City streets. While this rail crossing was smooth, I liked their caution sign…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cycling north of the capitol to finish the day, I descended off the hill and past some more industrial areas. Overall, today was a nice contrast with rides from tahe past days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I expect another day of cycling more suburban and trail riding before crossing over from the Great Salt Lake basin to the Snake River. Depending on the weather, may take a rest day before that crossing.<\/p>\n\n\n
