Relaxing rest day today. It was wet in the morning and surprisingly dry in the middle of the day. In the evening it started to rain again. I decided to take a rest day but also take Amtrak to Salem and back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also took my tent and sleeping bag and sent them on to Austin. Surprised I was able to come from the east coast and sleep in a bed each night – but still useful as a backup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was on the 11am train and back on the 2:45 bus. In between I walked to the capitol and got photos below and also ate lunch. On return to Portland walked around including visiting Powell’s books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tomorrow is also a rainy day forecast – I’ll see how it looks before deciding on whether to head north or take a rain day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
