I find their &#8220;cpumark&#8221; to often be one of the top search results when I search for a particular processor.  Passmark sells their CPU benchmarks on Windows but the Linux versions are free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I was curious to see what is in the benchmark and also how my Linux systems run the benchmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Here is the passmark page for Ryzen 7840 HS &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+7+7840HS&amp;id=5258\">https:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+Ryzen+7+7840HS&amp;id=5258<\/a> (score = 28843)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here is the passmark page for Intel Core i5-13500H &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/cpu.php?id=5151&amp;cpu=Intel+Core+i5-13500H\">https:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/cpu.php?id=5151&amp;cpu=Intel+Core+i5-13500H<\/a> (score = 23027)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here is the passmark page when I ask to compare the two processors &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/compare\/5151vs5258\/Intel-i5-13500H-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-7840HS\">https:\/\/www.cpubenchmark.net\/compare\/5151vs5258\/Intel-i5-13500H-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-7840HS<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The numbers I see are slightly lower:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ryzen 7840 is 28444 or 1.4% lower<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intel Core I5-13500H is 21711 or 5.7% lower<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I suspect choices of things like memory and others might have an effect but at least not wildly off the mark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1366\" height=\"1463\" src=\"https:\/\/mvermeulen.org\/perf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2024\/01\/passmark.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-638\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mvermeulen.org\/perf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2024\/01\/passmark.png 1366w, https:\/\/mvermeulen.org\/perf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2024\/01\/passmark-956x1024.png 956w, https:\/\/mvermeulen.org\/perf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/7\/2024\/01\/passmark-768x823.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1366px) 100vw, 1366px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>So what tests get run when I invoke passmark executable?  By default it brings up a curses output and populates the following subtests shown for AMD and Intel CPUs respectively. Running the instrumentation shows it is a bit of a jumbled together picture with different test characteristics.
