Battle Creek, across Kalamazoo
It rained overnight and the roads were wet. However, I mostly avoided rain while cycling today with the benefit that it stayed cool.
Today was a day of crossing several towns: Paw Paw, Portage, Kalamazoo, Augusta and Battle Creek. About half the route was along paths and the rest on roads. While I did see corn, it didn’t seem very rural.
Court House in Paw Paw with interesting looking clouds.
Leaving Paw Paw on this smaller road. This section had some small hills.
Portage and Kalamazoo are together and I crossed both with about half on paths like this and the other half on the road. I passed by Western Michigan University and then along the downtown area.
Here I met up with a sequence of linked trails. Some followed the road closely.

It wasn’t slippery
From Comstock to Augusta a nice new smooth pavement with a shoulder.
Are they advertising to me?
Downtown Battle Creek. Just as I arrived it started to pour. Only briefly but my timing was good to find my hotel. Overall, a straightforward day of cycling to cross a few towns. Expect to reach Lansing tomorrow.
