Paxton, short ride on a hot day
Today I crossed into the Mountain Time Zone and also crossed 3000ft of altitude. Each day the time of sunrise has been a few minutes later – mostly because I am riding west but also because days are getting shorter in August. This meant leaving just a little before 7am CDT which will now be 6am MDT.
I am still riding along the rail lines but some rail traffic might also follow the North Platte River as the trains are not as frequent as the two days previous.
Cycling through a residential area in North Platte. Today the morning skies were clear in contrast with yesterday. There was a slight breeze from the south expected to strengthen in the afternoon.
Watering the corn
Always hit and miss when you see “road construction 12 miles” and “milled surface” signs. Fortunately they had already repaved and I had a nice smooth route.
Town of Hershey.
Sutherland was the largest town I crossed today. Flags are flying in the breeze. I intended to stop but was through town before I expected.

Downtown Paxton. There is a cafe where I had an extended brunch and a small grocery.
