Austin, back in Texas
Three days of train travel and I am back in Austin.
The first two days were from Seattle to Chicago. I had reserved a sleeper. This gives a private compartment with seats during the day. At night the seats fold down and a mattress is placed on top. I can sleep well with a sleeper. Meals are also included. Meals are in the dining car and are “community seating”. That is fun learning about others on the train.
I had an overnight in Chicago and had reserved a hotel close to the train station.
From Chicago to Austin I had a coach seat. Seats are wider than airline seats. I also didn’t have anyone next to me. I bought meal items from the cafe car instead of eating in the diner. I slept OK but not as well as on the sleeper. However overall it was a relaxing journey to get back to Austin.
I am back to work on Monday. So I’ll have some time tomorrow to move a few things from storage. It will be a while before everything is back again.
I’ve enjoyed my trip and grateful at AMD for allowing me this trip. It is now time to get back in swing of things in Austin…
